Pakistan has yet to become a stable country even after 71 years of its independence. We must break the begging bowl if we want the country to take on the track of progress.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Shehbaz Sharif expressed these views on Tuesday.
He was speaking to the media at the Model Town office of his party.
Shehbaz lamented that the country had not achieved its full potential. “The ship of democracy has still not come out of the storm,” he said, adding, “We have not learnt from our mistakes.”
The PML-N president said he believed in the supremacy of democracy, which is why he was at the National Assembly session that took place for the oath-taking of newly elected MNAs a day earlier on Monday.
The session had marked the third consecutive democratic transition of power as 324 MNAs took the oath for the five-year session of the 15th National Assembly.
