ISLAMABAD: A meeting of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence was held here at the Parliament House on Thursday under the chairmanship of Shaikh Rohale Asghar.
The committee discussed issue of the land situated in the middle of Toba Tek Singh city allotted to Army Remount to Stud Grantees situated in Chak 239/JB, tehsil and district Toba Tek Singh in detail.
Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, a member of National Assembly from the area, while briefing the committee on the issue in question said that the land measuring 929A-6K-17M (situated in Chak 329/JB) was allotted to the army remount to Stud Grantees which had become a big problem in extending the city of Toba Tek Singh and provision of offices to the civil administration.
He was of the view that a state land measuring 1457A-3K-08M is available in Mauza plot-D in tehsil Pirmahal, district Toba Tek Singh adjacent to Rafiquee Airbase within Cantt Board limits may be allotted to Stud Grantees in lieu of that land.
After detailed discussion, the committee recommended to the Ministry of Defence that the land measuring 929A-6K-17M (situated in Chak 329/JB) allotted to army remount to Stud Grantees may be allotted to the district government of Toba Tek Singh in lieu of the proposed alternate land offered by the Punjab government for the extension of Toba Tek Singh city and catering the requirement of offices of district administration.
The committee also condemned in strong words the recent massacre and atrocities of the innocent Kashmiris in Indian-held Kashmir by the Indian forces and demanded from the international community and the UN Security Council to take notice of human rights violation in the disputed region.
The meeting was attended by lawmakers and ministry officials including Surriya Asghar, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Ghulam Rasul Sahi, Saeed Ahmed Khan Manais, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Nawab Ali Wassan, Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari, Sanjay Perwani and Kishwer Zehra.
